Matters of Appearance is an artist collaboration.
Our works are usually based on a theoretical foundation and approach and can therefore
be best described as artistic research projects.
A MoA project is subject to a set of rules (the "5 matters of appearance"):
1. do not create the artwork yourself
2. an artwork is a manifestation of discourse (i.e. the artwork is the final stage of the artistic process)
3. the artwork must be self-reflexive
4. institutional critique must be 4th-generation (i.e. focus on the artist rather than the institutions)
5. do not use blue
